The Ram

(NOTE: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS PAGE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE ROOK.)

The Ram is the second in the trilogy, and starts the mark of a vastly different plot. It is told by a different character in a similar but more dire situation. It's available for free online reading there, although when it is done and published, it will be taken off the internet and put up for sale like the first one. While the plot of the first and the last two are different and told differently, however, be assured that they do tie in (and in more ways than are first visible).

Plot Information: (again, be warned, all ye who avoid spoilers!)

After getting out of the asylum and nearly convinced that the entire demon race is a figment of her deranged imagination, Tuesday finds herself visited by a very real and very angry Ram. As her book - similar but a little different than The Rook that is the first book in the trilogy - grows in popularity, so does his rage. He wants to keep the demons a secret and finds her annoying, but highly valuable nonetheless. Tuesday escapes with her life, only to become caught in a tug-of-war as different demons fight to get one of two delicious cannibals living amongst humanity.

As if that's not bad enough, Tuesday's human life isn't much better. She's pushed around by her bossy, if protective, agent, James Fallun. He semi-accidentally hooks her up with Stephen Love, 'fictional anthropologist', who is just a little too keen on learning about her demons. She has to balance therapy and a job and what could laughably be called her social life, all while trying to keep the demons at bay.

Then there are the things Tuesday is unaware of. Like the hints and whispers of a civil war amongst the demons, like the plans of certain demons, like the massive, mute, orange-lit monster that's been haunting her dreams. Someone is twisting her, the Ram, and the Rook into weapons for a war they never knew existed.

Cast Information:

Tuesday Olson:
Age: twenty-two at introduction
Gender: female
Race: human
Personality: Tuesday's time on the island and years in the asylum have changed her. No longer as warm or outgoing as she once was, she is now withdrawn, meek, and cynical of the world around her. She still enjoys reading a great deal, often retreating into novels as a form of escapism, and has a spiteful side that only surfaced after her release back into society. She's still liable to care deeply about you, but there is a wall that must be passed first. She's terrified of any of the demons becoming public knowledge.

The Ram:
Gender: male (possibly)
Race: demon
Personality: The Ram is not one to be trifled with, and he makes sure everyone and everything around him is fully aware of that. He has a short temper, and while he tends to get frustrated and angry pretty easily, he knows who to focus his violent tendencies on. He prefers to think out actions as best he can (but once again, his temper sometimes gets in the way of that), but when he's cool and collected, he can be a dangerous enemy to have. Like all demons, he's selfish, and since the Rook traded Tuesday to him for his life, he is in 'possession' of two of the most valuable humans on the planet. He likes to act smarter and more powerful than he really is, though.
Power(s): enhanced strength, looking exceedingly innocent even as he's killing you with your own spine

The Rook:
Gender: male (possibly)
Race: demon
Personality: The Rook has gotten himself into trouble. Yet again. But what's changed is that he actually knows it this time. He used Tuesday as a bargaining chip for his life, but he's still managed to piss the Ram off enough to want his blood, and he's terrified of that. When he's not around the Ram, he's still as snarky and cruel as ever, and still calls Tuesday 'Michael' to bother her. He does have a serious side, and has even shown a knack for outwitting opponents from time to time, but he's still not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He relies on threats and his powers to keep himself aloft.
Power(s): flight, taking life (through touch and sound)

The Rabbit:
Gender: female (possibly)
Race: demon
Personality: The Rabbit isn't the sweet-hearted, almost-caring creature from The Rook. She's also not a prostitute; she is a porn star, and a very famous one at that. She can blend in effortlessly with the human race and uses it to her advantage. She is a great actor, but quick to anger and quick to lash out. She still prefers not to get into physical fights, however, unless she's sure of winning.
Power(s): enhanced speed, slightly enhanced sense of smell, slightly enhanced sense of hearing, lookin' damn hot

The Owl:
Gender: female (possibly)
Race: demon
Personality: The Owl is a pacifist, but don't let that fool you. She's not an easy target. She can outwit anyone who comes her way and still hangs about with the Mockingbird, who is evidently her mute protector. She's chatty and non-violent, but can be mean and cruel if someone doesn't let her get her way. She does seem more keen on learning about the human race than eating too many of them, however, so there's that.
Power(s): flight, instinctively knowing some things, knowledge in general

Stephen Love:
Age: mid twenties at introduction
Gender: male
Race: human
Personality: Stephen is an ass, simply put. He's haughty, snide, and insulting. He has a keen insight into things he shouldn't as well as a nigh-insatiable curiosity. He's clever, though, and tends to be on the calculating side. He has soft spots, but they're few and far between; they include his girlfriend, Claire, reading a good fantasy novel, doing something he hasn't done before, and becoming adorkable when playing video games. He and Tuesday don't get along.
