i raised my claws at the darkness and ripped the night apart

I finally picked The Rook back up. Working on finishing chapter 12 (it had a couple thousand words on it at the end of november) now. I hope to update it sometime before my birthday.

My birthday is December 27th btw. XD I'm going to be old. I don't want to be, but at least it's more stuff pour moi.

Happy holidays all~

too much of heaven a life and soul hellbound

Sooooo I wrote Pedestal's chapter 50 today. :D I'm slightly proud. I've only made it to that mark on two stories before... Granted, it usually has pretty short chapters, but still. Fifty chapters, woo!

I actually see myself finishing this, too. :D This is an amazing feat. OMG I'M SO EXCITED FOR IT. I'm so close to the "omfg crap" climaxy thing. XD;

And I want to take the Chekhov's Gun that is *spoiler here* and start firing. |D

...SOB SOB THE ENDING THOUGH >A>

i know that i can take no more it ain't no lie

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFf

I found out that the winners of NaNo can get proof copies of their fanfics.

I SO WOULD WANT TO PUBLISH DARK KNIGHT. Like, no one else knows how it is to write a 500k (yes, five hundred) word fanfiction with 99 chapters and epicness and ffffff. I'm trying very very hard not to use that code for Dark Knight...

I guess I'd also have to pay to get it published? XD;; This thing is all so confusing. Blah. I'll go work on The Rook again. (all of a sudden, it seems like I'm very, very close to finishing. whaaaaat. and I'm pretty sure the Rook and Ram are canon now.)

you can run you can hide but you can't escape my love

Would anyone bother buying The Rook? If so, for how much?

I can't sell it for under 7.50, because at that point I actually have to pay for the books. I break even at 7.50. And, let's face it, I would like a little profit for this if I'm bothering to publish...

So how much would a paperback book from an unnamed author sell for? (it'll be roughly 150-200 pages, if all goes as planned)

Also, what should I do about the internet copy of The Rook that's available on fictionpress right now? Should I just not finish it? Or should I delete it? Either seems like a pretty bitch move... I'm going to be editing The Rook and maybe adding/deleting some scenes, so it's not like anyone would be paying for what's free on the internet... But still. ARGH I SHOULD NOT HAVE POSTED IT DX Even if I enjoy the reviews and stuff.

Hmm hmm hmm. Any input, anyone? Plz?

hottie with that tomb raider body

So I'm writing a literary analysis of The Yellow Wall-Paper for my comp class, and I find myself able to use the phrase "unnamed narrator".

It's all I can do not to type "nameless narrator". MLIA. :D

Also, I'm just chilling, waiting for the I Wrote A Novel, Now What? page to go up. I'll work on stuff later.

still so young desperate for attention

OH YAY

I managed to hit 50,000 in a vain attempt to introduce Remington. Fifty thousandth word: "an". (and my first word was "it") I AM SO BORING.

Anyway, I'm not technically done with the story and I won't be for a little while longer, but at least I can finish it with a bit more leisure since I qualify for the publishing thing now. :> It's only slightly cheating. (And people do it anyway.)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm going to go write moar now and see how many words I can gather before midnight. (this makes me very, very nervous though because I don't want to hit 'verify' yet but what if I miss it somehow?)

see there ain't no sanctuary there's no shelter there's no grace

OH FUCK FUCK FUCK I AM BEHIIIIIND.

Terribly, terribly behind. :D Since last year I was done a good few days before the thirtieth, this is distressing to me. Hence ma francais.

So I'm at 45,737 words as of writing this. NaNo ends tonight. Tonight. Why, oh why, am I writing this? Because I want to capture this panic as it begins. Perhaps, later on tonight, I'll make another post when things get really hectic. Oh, say, around eleven or so.

Though I'll definitely hope to be done before then. D: I'll make sure to post when I get done, since it will be filled with JOY AND LOVE AND EUPHORIA and maybe a bit of celebratory dark chocolate.

Oh, also, my boyfriend isn't speaking to me until I finish. I find this very, very amusing since I really don't care. :'D;; (We have a very healthy relationship, as you can see.) But realistically speaking, I will distract myself thoroughly even without speaking to him tonight.

It just kind of makes me lol.

YOU KNOW WHAT ALSO MAKES ME LOL HOW I HAVE TO RUSH THIS ENDING TO GET DONE ARGH

that's the impression that i get

So I wrote a new story that is actually older than The Rook. It's titled WHIPLASH!, and really has no relation whatsoever to that movie/book Whip It.

I don't have the first chapter done (the posted one is the prologue, actually), and I definitely won't until after November and sometime in December at the absolute earliest. I'm terribly fond of the cast (I think even moreso than The Rook's cast) and I've only worked with them briefly. I have drawn them a hella lot, though.

Anyway, here's some information about WHIPLASH!:

The main characters are Nathan Loar, Sonya Karahalios, Allen Pershing, and Lenore Coracks.
Some of the minor characters are Emil Chevaler, Sara Grace Kellner, Luca Becker and Ann Iridos.
The title is a song from the same name that's in the story and also is mine. It's sung by Daydreamer Syndrome, who also belongs to me.
It was hard to come up with the terms Tego, Inven and nivedidus. D: I used lots of Latin for it, though.
It will be vaguely a war story; there's a war, they're soldiers, but rarely do they actual interact with opposing soldiers. Tego and Inven are mostly sent out for recon and rescue missions.

(I'm sensing some crossover drawings and stuff with the TR and WHIPLASH! casts...)

i am a pirate you are a princess

Aside from feeling the need to draw the cast in Pirate or Princess gear (because of the song I'm a Pirate, You're a Princess by PlayRadioPlay! and the title of this entry), this last weekend has been stressful. XD;

I got behind and it took me three days to finally catch up. Last night I managed to do so, however, and even got a tiny amount of buffer back. *w* I attribute most of that to the Interlude chapter (chapter eight), which was fun to draw. Well, it's always fun to take a break from the main cast and see what's going on elsewhere. Plus it let me introduce a lot of other characters which have been there the entire time, but just not known to Michael (so they wouldn't have appeared in the main plot until they, well, appeared). I love the dynamic the Owl and the Mockingbird have already.

I also think the Mockingbird is mute. I've never had a mute character before. It's just that he doesn't seem to talk. At all. Ever. (And the Bear starts her speaking with ellipses. That went on for awhile before I noticed.)

Michael will eventually meet a few of these characters, but otherwise, they might not be introduced or even mentioned to him. :> So Interlude was to see a bit of the flipside of the story. (I swear, I could write an entire novel just on the interactions of them all. I could rock a sequel.)

Last night, I also had a dream. I went back to France and relaxed and enjoyed it, and then when I woke up the next morning (in the dream), I asked my mother where my laptop was because I had to write. She told me I didn't have it, so I flipped out and demanded to go back to America for it, since I was behind and November was almost over. I wanted to leave France for NaNoWriMo. What the hell is wrong with me.

Also, I have all of the demons and their powers figured out. :'D Has anyone figured out that most demons really don't have just one power? (For example, the Rabbit has her speed as well as a "secondary" power, her sexuality/beauty.)

Here's a couple for reading this blog:
The Wolf & the Cat (they don't have just one overly powerful strength, unlike most others) = awesome hearing, smelling, boosted speed, stealth, fighting capabilities
The Owl = knowledge, wisdom, flight
The Mockingbird = copies others', flight
The Fox = transformation of outer appearance/invisibility, boosted cleverness
The Turtle = time, defensive capabilities
The Dolphin = telekinesis, breathes underwater, boosted intelligence

that boy needs therapy

And suddenly--rape.

I'm seriously not even a part of this story anymore. My characters have taken over the plot.

...Even if I'm a little glad the dark undertones and completely twisted characters are back. >w>

it's nearly over the last train is here and it's leaving behind those years

Posted chapter six today and got my second review! Both of these things made me absolutely euphoric. (Especially since the review topped 300 words. That's hella long, and yes, I counted. My roommate and I took a bet on it even.)

I'm excited to at least have introduced the Rabbit. I'm not completely satisfied with how she wiggled into the scene, but at least she's here, right?

Eventually I'll do some group drawings. I've sketched out the Rabbit a couple times, but I'm still sketchy (haha pun) on a bit of her appearance and personality... I'll go on a drawing spree at some point.

Maybe after I catch up. I ran out of buffer since I didn't really write for a couple days. D: I'm terrible.

a human caught in monochrome dreams

So I went on a character-creating spree last night! It was epic. :> More demons~ yay. Let's see if I can remember them all without looking it up...

The Rook, the Ram, the Rabbit, the Cat, the Wolf, the Snake, the Owl, the Mockingbird, the Bear, the Unicorn (lol), the Dolphin. I had to look up the Deer and the Otter, damn. XD; I've more or less figured them all out. :> There's some epic shit in that list, oh yeah.

I'm also ahead! :D And I plan on keeping it that way. >.>

Thursday, November 12, 2009

well you just laughed it off it was all okay

Chapter four is up! There's a time skip of a couple years, we find out more about the Rook, and some semblance of a plot pops up!

It's kind of exciting.

i'm miserable up here without you

In addition to RemingtonxRook being all but canon now, I'm developing a few more characters. One of these is a prostitute, yay! The others... I'm still working on the others (they won't be as major of characters as the whore though, haha).

I'm also being for the first time - but a little over 2k words. Thankfully, though, I have the day off since it's vet's day, so I have a bit of catchup time.

Also, a friend (who is also a wrimo this year) and I have started talking in the language of the bard, and most recently, have taken to acting as our characters as we did so. (See? We're productive...!) I was the Rook and she was Callum. Both of them have a few key interests in common - like killing people, for instance. It was fun. :>

hello there the angel from my nightmare

...I just realized I ship RemingtonxRook.

I haven't even introduced Remington.

And I really only got to properly writing the Rook in chapter 3. What the hell. Rem won't appear until a looong ways off, too! WHAT THE HELL, IMAGINATION.

...still it's too hot to ignore and they're totally made for each other >A>

this is the end of the sweet sugar candy man

Chapter two is up, and it's hella long. Don't expect every chapter to be that long--I just wanted to get most of the island arc wrapped up. It should pretty much end next chapter.

Oh, and yes, they are considering cannibalism at this point. :> Next chapter will fully answer that, though!

AND ALSO--the rook has been introduced! Well, the rook as in the bird... Not the actual Rook... but still! It's a step forward! With foreshadow!

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

there's just too much that time cannot erase

I'm almost finishing up chapter two! I hope to have it done tonight. :> Finally, the island arc is starting to wrap up. Kinda. Or at least, the main point is brought out and they're discussing it~. It's a lot longer, too, than the first, which I'm happy for. I dislike short chapters (unless they're absolutely necessary).

Also, the rook is introduced! :D

More on him later, though.

silent night broken night all is fallen when you take your flight

IT ALL STARTED WITH THE ROOK.

Please, por favor, onegai, s'il vous plait--drop me a review? Feedback is what I feed off of (pun slightly intended) and it helps me get motivated to make it through November.

come up to meet you tell you i'm sorry

I-I-I did something bad.

I clicked on the 'tvtropes' link in the Procrastination Station.

I don't know how long I was out, but I do know that I read all of Persona 4's page and at least a dozen pages before it... @A@;;;

THIS DOES NOT BODE WELL

But it was lulzy.

i need more affection than you know

NaNo eve! It's 9.55 here, so I'm basically doing absolutely NOTHING while I wait for the clock to tick down.

I'm making a revised soundtrack right now, and probably later on I'll start creating the folders and stuff necessary. (I'm a neat freak when it comes to my computer.) I really wish I could have gotten the mp3 of the Cannibal Holocaust theme, though. :< It's so haunting and creepy.

Let's see, what else to do before I start writing...

Today and some of last night, I almost switched stories. XD;; fml. I've been randomly and overpoweringly inspired for the story I write in my non-november times, Pedestal, and considered just writing another 50k on it. I think I'm going to go with The Rook, though. :> I'll still update Pedestal during this month (because I was working furiously on a chapter buffer up until now), but once a week, and hopefully that won't distract me too much from my Rooking.

lol, rooking is a verb that means to cheat, swindle, or fleece. HA. And the 'fleece' bit also got me, since there's also the Ram... Ahahaha. I love the little things like that. <3

'cause you make me nervous i don't wanna make a slip

Wow, less than two days left now! o: It seems this last week went by so fast (but then again, I can blame that on all that happened and the general lack of sleep). I'm not as excited as I was at first to begin this, but at least I have it more or less planned out.

Okay, that's a lie.

I have the beginning planned out, have no idea how they get off the island, and then some vague details and the very end planned out. I'm actually worried this will be too short (note: this is a CATASTROPHE and is SHOCKING because I usually write really, really long things. see: dark knight).

It's been awhile since I've been writing blind. I technically don't even have the exact ending hammered out, oooooh. This'll be a fun 'WriMo. :>

take everything from the inside and throw it all away

1. What is your full name? Do you have a nickname?
Tuesday Leonora Olson.

2. How old are you? When is your birthday?
I am nineteen years old, and my birthday is September 18th.

3. Where were you born? Where do you live now? Are you patriotic?
I was born in Arkansas, and I had been living with my parents while attending college in Pennsylvania. After the shipwreck, I guess I don't live there anymore... I would call myself patriotic, yes.

4. Who are/were your parents? (Names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
My mother was a librarian as long as I can remember. My father has had a couple jobs, and most recently he was working at a law firm. Their names were Thad and Anita Olson. Mom was, well, like a librarian--pretty quiet, loved books and reading, a bit strict with the rules. But she was very smart and could tell you anything about any book ever. Dad was quiet, too, but in a more serious way. He was very much a business man, though he couldn't help but grin when he played with our dog.

5. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
My parents wanted another, but they only had me. I don't know why not; I would have liked a little sister or brother...

6. What is your occupation?
I'm going to college, but I don't have a major yet. I'm not sure what I want to be. I kind of would like to write a storybook some time, but I don't have a story... Maybe I'll just be a librarian like my mother.

7. How tall are you? How much do you weigh?
5'5, 131 lbs.

8. What color is your hair? What color are your eyes?
I have dark brown hair (inherited from my father's side) and dark brown eyes (inherited from my mother's side).

9. What is your race?
I'm Caucasian.

10. To which social class do you belong?
Middle class. Maybe a little bit upper-middle class. We've always been pretty well off.

11. Do you consider yourself to be attractive? Do others?
I suppose I'm pretty, and I have a nice figure. My boyfriend thinks I'm beautiful, at least!

12. What is your style of dress?
I like skirts, just because they're more comfortable while still cute. Plus you don't have to wear them skin-tight like pants because that's 'in'. Long-sleeves, too, but I guess that's just a habit. I do like sweaters, though, and natural tones.

13. Do you have any scars? Tattoos? Birthmarks? Other unique physical features?
I have a scar from where I got my appendix out, a cut on my hand from when I was little and picked up a knife the wrong way, and a scar on my back when I had stitches. No tattoos, but I have a birthmark just above my right ankle. Not many people know that since I always wear socks or stockings, though!

14. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
I'm mildly allergic to cats and rabbits (but thankfully not dogs). I might be allergic to other furry animals... I'm not sure. No diseases, though--at least none that I'm aware of!

15. Are you right- or left-handed?
Right-handed.

16. What does your voice sound like?
How would I describe that? People hear their own voice differently than others, because the facial bones in your face conduct sounds well... I learned that in my Psychology class. Um, kind of random, though. But I really don't know how to answer that question.

17. What kind of vocabulary do you use?
I have a pretty large vocabulary, since I'm always reading. I don't use large words all that often, but I do if I want to sound smart sometimes.

18. List three quirks or other defining characteristics.
I wear a lot of mascara, just because I like dark, thick lashes. I don't wear any other makeup, though, unless I'm going out for something formal... I play with my hair a lot. And touch my face. Oh, and when I'm writing for myself, I don't use capitals.

19. How often do you bathe? Do you wear perfumes?
Every evening I take a shower, usually early enough so I have time to dry my hair before I go to sleep. I don't wear perfumes, but I like to wear body spray. Usually sweet pea smelling; I like the earthy scent.

20. What kind of facial expression do you commonly wear (dour glare, wry smile, etc)?
A small smile. I only noticed because it appears in a lot of pictures taken of me.

21. Do you use body language? How?
I try to be open with my body language--I don't cross my arms in public, I don't have pockets to put my hands into, and try to keep eye contact as much as possible when talking to people.

22. Do you have a commonly used saying?
Probably, but if I do, I can't think of it.

CHILDHOOD

23. What is your earliest memory?
My mother reading a bed time story to me. I think it was Where The Wild Things Are.

24. How much schooling have you had? Did you enjoy it?
I have my high school degree and am attending college. I enjoyed some of my classes, but not all. I don't like the sciences all that much.

25. Where did you learn most of your knowledge and skill?
Probably from a mixture of my parents, books, school, and random places.

26. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Happy and busy! We traveled a lot, be it to see family, see places, or just travel.

27. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It varied from day to day, haha. A veterinarian, a librarian, an astronaut, a teacher, a mother, a doctor, the list goes on and on.

28. When and with whom was your first kiss?
It was in middle school, with Bobby Fitz.

29. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
I don't feel comfortable answering this question. Why does it matter?

30. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? Does that affect you?
Nope! So it doesn't affect me in the least.

INFLUENCES

31. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
I think finally moving out and going to college, though the shipwreck certainly changed my life...

32. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Getting a 27 on my ACT test and getting into college with it.

33. What is your greatest regret?
Um... I have a lot.

34. What is the most embarrassing or shameful thing ever to happen to you?
My first period--enough said, really.

35. Do you have any secrets? If so, what are they?
I kept my boyfriend a secret for the first two months of our relationship. I've also kept it a secret from my parents that we're talking seriously about marriage. At least, we were...

36. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
...I don't feel comfortable answering this question, either...

37. When was the time you were the most frightened?
The ship sinking was pretty scary, and that first night on the island. I had no idea what to do in either of those circumstances.

38. Have you ever traveled outside of your country? If so, to where?
I went to Italy once on a school trip; it was very fun and I learned a lot. I've also been to Canada.

BELIEFS

39. What is your alignment?
Sexual or religious? I'm straight, thank you very much, and I was raised a Catholic.

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Optimistic, I'd think.

41. Do you believe in a god? If so, which one and why?
I believe in my God. He's the only one.

42. Do you believe in an afterlife?
Heaven, Purgatory and Hell, if those count.

43. What is your greatest fear?
Being alone when I die.

44. What makes you angry? Sad? Happy? Why?
People who are racist or sexist make me angry, or people who try to push their beliefs on you. Abandoned animals make me sad, and so do books with broken bindings or torn out pages. Things that make me happy... Hmm. There's a lot of those. Actually, there's a lot of all of these.

45. Do you think people are basically good or basically evil?
I'd like to believe good, but I know a couple that aren't...

46. What are your views on politics?
I'm registered as an Independent, so I can vote whatever way I want.

47. What are your views on gambling, lying, theft, and killing?
Gambling is alright in moderation and when done legally. Lying isn't good, though it's avoidable. Theft and killing are just wrong, though.

48. How far will you go to defend your beliefs?
I'm not sure; I've never been tested.

49. How much do you value money?
I value it a lot, living as a poor college student.

50. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
Take away someone's loved ones.

51. Do you believe in self-sacrifice for the greater good?
Yes, I do. I probably wouldn't have the courage to ever do that, but I can believe in that cause.

52. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
I'd like to.

53. Are you superstitious?
Only slightly. Not terribly.

54. How much do you respect the beliefs and opinions of others?
I try to respect them, but sometimes, they just rub me the wrong way...

55. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings?
I try to be as honest as possible with them.

56. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
Well, I don't think all of those Mexicans should be hopping the border and living here illegally...

DEALING WITH OTHERS

57. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
...I think it would be my mother. She's just been such a good role model for me and has taught me so much.

58. Who is the person you respect the most? Despise the most? Why?
I respect both of my parents equally, so I'm not sure. Despise is a very strong word, and I'm hesitant to apply it to anyone.

59. Do you have a significant other? Who? Why?
Yes, I do. My boyfriend, who has been with me for almost a year and a half now. His name is Chris(topher) Robbins, and what do you mean why? I liked him, he liked me, he asked me out, and we're together now.

60. Do you have a lot of friends? Who is your best friend?
I do have a lot of friends, and a couple best friends. I'm not sure who is the top of that list, so I'll just say Lexi, Sharron and Chris.

61. How do you relate to members of the same race? Class? Sex?
I'd like to believe I related to all people equally... though I'll admit I'm more comfortable around girls than boys.

62. How do you relate to members of a different race? Class? Sex?
Still the same, but sometimes it's awkward if we're unfamiliar with each other's cultures...

63. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
A couple times. I've been dumped once, dumped someone once, and had someone move away, but right now, I'm perfectly happy with my boyfriend.

64. What do you look for in a potential lover?
He has to be able to make me laugh, and he has to be at least a little smart. Of course, if he's cute, likes books, or has a dog, that's always a plus.

65. How close are you to your family?
Pretty close, but a little more distant since I left for college.

66. Do you want a marriage, family, and/or children?
I want all of the above! I want to be a mother, and have two children--a boy and a girl, in that order.

67. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
I'll argue if I know I'm right or if it's something I really believe in, but otherwise, I'm not that argumentative.

68. Are you a listener or a talker?
I can be both, depending on the situation. I get talkative sometimes, I know, but I can also listen.

69. How long does it usually take for you to trust others?
I'll trust most people to some degree. It takes awhile longer for me to trust them with important things, though.

70. Do you hold grudges?
I used to, but I've been working on that.

71. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
I will if need be. I'm okay with taking orders, too.

72. Do you like interacting with large groups of people?
In most instances, yes. I'm not very good at giving speeches, though, so not that.

73. How well do you express yourself?
I think I express myself well.

74. How quickly do you judge others?
I try not to judge. I know sometimes it's unavoidable, but those are mostly the knee-jerk responses you have to different sorts of people.

75. Do you care what others think of you?
I think all people do. It's how our society operates.

76. Do you have any enemies? How or why are they your enemy?
There was this girl in my Biology class senior year of high school, LeAnn Slaughter. We really didn't like each other, and got into two big arguments during the year.

PERSONAL TASTE AND OPINIONS

77. What is your favorite pastime? Color? Food? Possession?
I like reading, going for walks with our dog, and watching movies with Chris or my friends. My favorite color is indigo, since it's such an unloved character. My favorite food is asian stir-fry, with different things in it, but usually noodles, carrots, shrimp and baby corn. My favorite possession is the silver charm bracelet my boyfriend got me.

78. What are your preferences in arts and/or entertainment?
I like more classical art and motifs. Traditional. And I like the classics when it comes to paintings, or books, or movies.

79. Do you smoke, drink, go whoring, or use drugs? Why or why not?
I've tried smoking once and absolutely hated it. I've gotten drunk a couple times, but I'm not an alcoholic. I've never 'gone whoring' or used drugs, and I never will. I drink occasionally at parties, but as for the rest, they're just not for me.

80. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Sometimes I party, sometimes I just curl up and read, sometimes I go out and do random things. It depends a lot on the weather and my mood.

81. What is your most cherished fantasy?
I'd like to write a book some time. I'll have to come up with an idea for one, but I'll get it some day. (That, or get married to Chris.)

82. How long is your attention span?
I'm very patient and can remained focused for a long time.

83. Do you laugh a lot? What do you find funny?
I'm more of a smiler than a laugher, but I find a lot of things funny. I like satire and dry humor when I read, I like the immature jokes all the guys tell in class, and I will giggle if someone messes up their words.

84. Is there anything that shocks or offends you? If so, what?
It shocks me all of the violence going on in the world, and how humans can do such things to each other. It also offends me when people abuse animals or children who can't defend themselves.

85. How do you deal with stress?
I will go off on my own and read a book, usually a non-stressful one. Or I'll take Mint for a long walk.

86. How much athletic ability do you have? Artistic?
I'm... not all that athletic, haha. I can kind of draw, like still life...

87. Do you like animals? Do you like children?
I like both of them very much.

88. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
I can be either, really.

89. Do you have a pet? If so, what is his/her name? Species? Fur color? Etc…
I have Mint, our dog. He's a mix. We got him at the shelter when I was little, so I'm not sure what he actually is. I think he's part Chow, though, since he's so fuzzy. He's light brown and has gorgeous dark brown eyes.

SELF-IMAGE

90. What is your greatest strength as a person? Weakness?
I'm very strong emotionally; I can hold up in a crisis and I'll be the one to help others through it. My weakness is that I can easily get caught up in the little things a lot and don't see the bigger picture.

91. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
That I could take care of people better. I want to be able to help.

92. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
A little bit of both, but probably more on the extroverted side.

93. Do you like yourself?
For the most part, yes. There are a couple things I don't like, though, but that's normal, isn't it?

94. Do you have a daily routine? How do you feel if your day is interrupted?
I wake up, go to classes, eat lunch with Sharron, go to the rest of my classes, and spend the rest of the night watching TV, studying, doing homework, or watching movies. If it's a pleasant interruption, then I'll be fine with it. If it's not, I'll probably be cranky.

95. What goal do you most want to accomplish in the next six months? Your lifetime?
In the next six months, I'd like to get through another semester of college with decent grades. Of course, that's assuming I survive... For my lifetime, I'd like to build a family.

96. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
In five years, out of college and hopefully with a job. In ten years, married and with kids. In twenty years, more settled into life.

97. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
...Um... In my sleep. Peacefully. And when I'm old.

98. What is the one thing you would like to be remembered for after your death?
Being a good person, wife, mother.

99. What three words would you use to best describe your personality?
Caring, bright, intelligent.

100. What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Motherly, bookworm (or maybe intelligent?), and... Hmm, I don't know. I'd have to ask.

101. Why are you risking your life to adventure?
I was kind of forced into this. I'm not sure I'd like this even if I'd volunteered for it...

1. What is your full name? Do you have a nickname?

4. Who are/were your parents? (Names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
Dad was an eye doctor, and mom ran a hardware store with my uncles. Mom was tough but loving and caring and motherly, and she told me stories. Dad said she babied me. Dad liked to do more stuff, like play games with me and go out at parties, but he was very serious when it came to work. (They often disagreed over which business Michael should take over, if either. Father was the town's only optometrist and was greatly respected in the community. Names: ??? They were known only as Mom and Dad by Michael...)

I don't know. It just sounds like me.

17. What kind of vocabulary do you use?
Whatever words I know?

Mom called me a perfectionist once, and my teacher agreed with her. Um, I also like shiny things--I once had a box of polished rocks, until dad threw them out by mistake. And I like seashells on the beach, too. For a third... I like stories? I don't know what's really defining for me.

19. How often do you bathe? Do you wear perfumes?
I bathe every other day, when mom tells me to. I don't wear perfumes; I'm a boy!

I don't think so...

CHILDHOOD

No I don't, no matter what the Rook says.

43. What is your greatest fear?
Dying.

44. What makes you angry? Sad? Happy? Why?
The Rook makes me sad and angry sometimes, but I know he's only doing the best he can. That kind of makes me happy. I like stories--those make me happy. Losing my parents made me sad, and angry that I couldn't save them and that they were dead now.

Kill another human.

58. Who is the person you respect the most? Despise the most? Why?
Um, I'm not sure. I think I respect the mayor the most, because he ran Hayden really well, even though I never met him. I don't like the Rook very much, because of what he's done... and what he's made me do...

59. Do you have a significant other? Who? Why?
What's that mean?

60. Do you have a lot of friends? Who is your best friend?

75. Do you care what others think of you?
Yeah, but not a lot.

PERSONAL TASTE AND OPINIONS

I like to play outside and climb trees if it's nice outside. If it's not nice, I'll read or sometimes draw. My favorite color was red, but now it's blue. My favorite food is pepperoni and sausage pizza. And my favorite thing was my box of polished rocks, before dad threw it out...

I don't know. I like funny movies. And adventure stories.

80. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
I watch movies sometimes. Either at Daniel's or he comes to my house.

81. What is your most cherished fantasy?
I want to become a hero and save the damsel in distress and maybe slay a dragon (even though I know they're not real). It would be cool to be a knight in shining armor.

82. How long is your attention span?
Long unless I get distracted.

83. Do you laugh a lot? What do you find funny?
I don't know. I do find funny home videos funny, though, and I also laugh at things our third grade teacher did in class.

84. Is there anything that shocks or offends you? If so, what?
Death still shocks me, and it offends me when people aren't grateful for what they have. Or when they don't say 'thank you'.

85. How do you deal with stress?
I don't.

86. How much athletic ability do you have? Artistic?
I can run pretty fast and I can kick the ball really far in kickball. I draw sometimes, but I color better than I actually draw, so most of the time I just color the page different colors...

Yes to both. (though the Rook doesn't count as an animal anymore. I don't like him.)

I like to have plans, but I don't need them. I would be okay with just doing something without one.

89. Do you have a pet? If so, what is his/her name? Species? Fur color? Etc…
I always wanted a dog, but my parents wouldn't let me, since they said I wouldn't take care of it.

What?

93. Do you like yourself?
Yes.

94. Do you have a daily routine? How do you feel if your day is interrupted?

I just want to be able to grow up and get away from the Rook.

96. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
I don't know.

101. Why are you risking your life to adventure?
Because the Rook is making me.

we are fighting dreamers

o hai!

This is snohshine, or Cora, or Skitty, or whoever you know me as. (They're all the same person, naturally.) I am the author/writer of The Rook, my hopefully-50,000-word novel I will be creating/giving birth to this November.

Also, for the record, my post titles will all be lyrics of songs I'm listening to.

What is The Rook? Oh yes, I will get very tired of italicizing that, btw. Italics are a bitch anyway and I already have to wrestle with them for one story, so I'm not going to put myself through it again. :>

Anyway, The Rook is the title of my novel~ and it describes one of the characters, the Rook. See how that works? I will actually be working with a really small cast (as opposed to other works of mine), and I could more or less count the 'main' characters on one hand.

The actual Main Character (abbreviated from here on out as the MC) is a little boy named Michael. I haven't decided on an exact age yet, but I know he's young. Blond hair, blue eyes, a very cute young boy. :> Tuesday, another character, actually calls him angelic a couple times. (So does the Rook.) Later on he gets an appearance change, though. Oh well. He's pretty quiet, and usually won't speak unless spoken to. He has a mother and a father but no siblings.

The other pretty main character is the Rook, naturally. But we'll talk more on him later, like when he actually appears.

Two other characters that will be appearing in the first chapter are Tuesday and Silvermin. Tuesday is a teenage girl who acts fairly motherly towards Michael and tries to take care of him during their time on the island. She has brown hair, dark brown eyes, wears mascara, has a healthy figure for a girl her age, and likes to tell stories. She's often telling Michael stories. Her mother was a librarian for a lot of her childhood and imparted a love of fiction. Tuesday once said that she would be a writer, just so she could have her very own book/story, except she has nothing to write about. (NaNoWriMo anyone?)

Silvermin is an older gentleman--okay, not older, like in his late thirties or early forties. But compared to a small boy and a teenager, that is older. He's a fairly wealthy businessman and has a touch of a British accent and mannerisms. He also has a mustache! He's never had children, which leads him to deal with Tuesday and Michael rather awkwardly at first, but they soon come to a certain relationship of reservation and mutual distance. He's a rather intelligent character, and very much a chocoholic.

More on the characters later as I figure them out more.
