It also has its own deviantArt group and tvtropes page.
Plot Information: The first-person narrative follows an unnamed original character (we just call him NamNar, short for the Nameless Narrator) whose gender may or may not be male. He started out with a normal enough dream - become the Champion of Sinnoh. The twist was that he only wanted one Pokemon. NamNar would train that Pokemon up until it was nearly godly in nature.
Of course, being given a Pokemon with a double weakness as a starter put a damper on things. So the dream changed. Sort of. Our darling little narrator made friends with a spoiled girl named Hanna and an elite trainer named Nick, caught more Pokemon, gained more badges, and wound up having a couple of stalker ghosts following him around. No, really.
The plot took a turn for the serious when the narrator receives a warning from psychics and ghosts about the future. Things looked grim and then some. He had to stop a dark-haired trainer from becoming a monster. All while trying to stay afloat in the training climate and pursue his dream. Stalker ghosts, dead trainers and Pokemon, psychotic elitists, double weaknesses, and possibly the worst luck you will ever see on a single character. Communist Duskull, dancing Shroomish, Teleporting Magmar, overprotective Garchomp, human-hating Shinx, shiny Eevee and Roserade and Ponyta, oh my!, swords
Cast Information:
(be aware of minor spoilers as they will be kept fairly current with the end of the story)
Main Characters:
The Nameless Narrator:
Age: 15 at the latest chapter
Gender: Male, probably
Personality: Our nameless narrator has progressed from a horribly idealistic, naive, and hopeful trainer in his youth to a tangle of snark and cynicism and bitterness. That said, he does enjoy some peace and quiet, and will generally revert to his happy-go-lucky nature if given the chance. He does have a bit of a bad luck streak, however.
Likes: good luck, his team, awesomeness, red snow cones, simplicity
Dislikes: bad luck, allergies, elitists, other people getting hurt, responsibility for more than he can handle
Nick Sayre:
Age: early twenties at the latest chapter
Gender: Male
Personality: Nick is the guy who will gladly take things too far to prove a point or win a challenge. He's friendly, experienced at training, and will not hesitate to bully you into doing the right thing. He's a bit of a dork and has a habit of naming his Pokemon after science fiction authors and characters.
Likes: science fiction, challenges, winning bets, his friends, his brother, impressing others
Dislikes: losing, paranoia, being unable to help, being called by his mother
Hanna (last name unknown):
Age: late teens at latest chapter
Gender: Female
Personality: Hanna is spoiled, surprisingly mature, smart, caring, and not afraid to go after what she wants. After a childhood of getting everything handed to her by her rich father, she decided to go out traveling, entangling herself with the two trainers above. Lately, she's been hiding depression, however.
Likes: shopping/retail therapy, pink, cute Pokemon, winning, spoiling others, making friends, attention, cute boys
Dislikes: seriousness to training, not getting her way, bossy girls, when her friends don't have any self-confidence
Minor Characters:
Jude (last name unknown)
Personality: Jude is a Pokemon breeder with (usually) the patience of a saint. He's good at what he does and is rather well-regarded in the richer parts of the world. He seems to have a soft spot for Hanna. He's the one who supplied her and Cossette with their Pokemon, and even now, can exhibit full range of control on them better than their new trainers can.
Cossette Beaumanoir
Personality: Cossette is a little French girl who the narrator stumbled across in a kidnapping attempt gone wrong. Meeting again years later, she's grown up (a bit) to have developed dreams of becoming a trainer just like him, even going so far as to add a Numel to her team. She may or may not have a crush on the narrator.
Note: Cossette is very rarely seen without her overprotective bodyguard, Jacques the Gallade.
Vaikuntha (last name unknown)
Personality: Vai, as he likes to be called, is possibly the friendliest, smile-iest person you will ever meet in your life. He's willing to go to any lengths to help his friends and sees everyone as his family. He's a very skilled trainer and can even wield his Skarmory's feathers like swords, much to the amazement of others. He does seem to have a fear of fire and a bit of a temper, however.
Sela Schaffer
Personality: Sela is a feminist and will not hesitate to let any male in her immediate range know this. She's brash, violent, headstrong, and damn good at what she does. She does have a habit of not wearing a bra in public, however, much to the discomfort of anyone around her.
Benjamin Wake
Personality: Benjamin is a snarky, rude, mean little brat. He has a razor-sharp tongue that usually gets him into trouble, but it's hardly a problem for him to battle his way out. He does seem fairly easy to embarrass, however, although that'll just earn you more anger after the fact.
Alicia Bisett
Personality: Alicia is a talker and is pretty friendly with those around her. She does get a little spiteful from time to time, is fond of calling people 'heifer', and for some reason, doesn't own a bird. She likes dresses and is rarely seen without one, although her Pokemon team is far from the 'girly' stereotype.
Lola Gram
Personality: Lola is stoic, spiteful, and a little dark at times. She dresses in full black, dyes her hair black, and really, she has the personality to match it. She's not above using some questionable tactics - psychological torture among them - to win her battles. She's not completely a bad person, however. She's an electric-type trainer.
Liked your description of the chars XD
ReplyDeleteLoved your interpretation of the characters. Having read the story, I know how epic it can be and am glad you didn't spoil it with too much information about the characters. It was a great read, largely due to the characters, so thank you for your accuracy in that regard and also of the plot.
